Our partners Margaret and Kevin of Groundworks Farm finally tied the knot after a long season of planning, building and harvesting. For their wedding everyone rose to the challenge, converting a fully-functioning farm into an event venue and serving an entirely grown-to-order farm to table menu.
Our chef and his team worked diligently in the side barn (converted to kitchen), preparing vegetables, meats and cheeses all sustainably grown in the local community. Needless to say, the food was a huge hit!
Appetizers included crispy kale chips, harvest vegetable skewers, butternut squash cubes, pork sliders, and a locally sourced cheese display.
Even the centerpieces, decor and favors were sourced locally and sustainably. With root vegetables adding color to the buffet, dried and fresh flowers decorating the tables, and seeds in tiny burlap sacks for party favors. Everything was grown on the farm, giving farmers Margaret and Kevin some serious peace of mind. Their wedding choices reduced production waste and travel emissions by sourcing locally.
Oh, and did we mention, they did it all in their very own working greenhouse?
It is truly amazing what linens and lights can do to completely transform a space. We send major kudos to the Groundworks Farm team for putting the greenhouse together, to the Catering by Seasons team for working in such a unique space, and to the friends and family of the happy couple who have hopefully walked away from this experienced a little more enlightened.
